Watch Review :: Initial Thoughts :: Citizen Promaster Sky BY0084-56E

THOUGHTS

  • I bought this watch used, I'm the third owner, and there is not a single scratch anywhere. Duratect is legit!
  • 23mm lug width is annoying.
  • While not an ISO rated dive watch, it has oversized spring bars like an ISO rated dive watch.  Not like a Seiko spring bar though, the middle section is normal size but the ends (that fit into the lugs) are larger than normal.
  • Thanks to the female endlinks it wears well for a fairly large watch.
  • Feels thinner than it really is, probably because it's so light.
  • The second hands (both big chronograph second hand and the small seconds hand) are just a smidge out of alignment, with 'perfect' being right in between the adjustment positions.
  • By far my busiest watch, but still easy to read at a glance.
  • It's much more "sparkly" in real life, even tho the dial and case are black the polished bits on the dial really catch light and sparkle.
  • Bracelet is super comfy, each link is made of five different pieces with a mix of brushed and polished finishes.
  • Same excellent quick adjust clasp that's on my Promaster Land!
  • Lots of motors means super fast time zone changes.
  • The slide rule is basically useless.  You can't use it while it's on your wrist, and even if you take it off the crown is so small and tucked into the case and it's hard to use, and the gear ratio is slow so you have to do a lot of turning of the crown to move the slide rule much.
